The defendant was attacked by his brother and his wife while protesting the sale of liquor in Adarshpalli area of Baguihati, the defendant was seriously injured and was declared brought dead on arrival at Deshbandhu Nagar Hospital near Baguihati.
The family has filed a complaint of murder. The Baguiati police station has arrested Purnima Mandal, the brother's wife. Brother Biswajit Mandal and his wife Poornima Mandal, who run a liquor and ganja business for a long time in Adarsh village of Baguiati, have been accused of assaulting their grandfather Robin Mandal several times for opposing the sale of ganja.
The dispute reached a climax when grandfather Robin Mandal and his wife Archana Mandal were badly beaten up by brother Biswajit Mandal and his wife Poornima Mandal.
The locals rushed Robin Mandal to the local Deshbandhu Nagar Hospital where he was declared brought dead. Local councilors also arrived at the scene. A case of murder has been registered on behalf of the family.
